The Ford Truck Arena in Tulsa was packed with excitement as the Hollywoodstinseltown Open Futurity Level 4 got underway — and ThisChicHasBigDreams rose to the moment with a powerful, confident performance that earned her a standout 224, securing the Co-Championship in one of the event’s most competitive classes.
Ridden by professional reiner Abby Lengel, the young mare entered the pen with the poise of a seasoned athlete, showing the crowd exactly why her pedigree and early training had generated so much anticipation.
“This mare has a big heart and an incredible amount of natural try,” Lengel shared after the run. “Once we stepped into the arena, she locked in. She felt composed, honest, and ready to work.”
A First-Show Breakout Moment
Though this was Charlotte’s debut on a major stage, she handled the pressure with striking maturity. Her circles were smooth and expressive, her turns crisp, and her stop sequence drew a wave of applause from spectators ringside.
Lengel emphasized how meaningful the run was for a young horse entering the futurity ranks.“You hope they’ll rise to the occasion, but it’s something you can’t predict,” she said. “Tonight she showed us what she’s made of — she came in with confidence and gave me every bit of effort I asked for.”
Their 224 not only earned them a share of the Open Level 4 Championship but also a payout of $12,720, an impressive achievement for a mare at the very beginning of her show career.
Exceptional Pedigree, Early Promise
Bred for performance and precision, ThisChicHasBigDreams is by Magnum Chic Dream and out of Slide By Shiner, making her a granddaughter of Shining Spark — a lineage known for power, athleticism, and consistency in the reining pen.
Owned by Krista and Paul Schulman of Diamond Creek Ranch, Charlotte has been in training with Lengel since her yearling year. Her natural ability, strong mind, and steady progression hinted early on that she had the potential to be a major contender in futurity competition.
“From the beginning, she just had that look,” said owner Krista Schulman. “A balanced mover, sharp-minded, and willing. We believed in her from day one, and seeing her shine tonight makes us incredibly proud.”
A Team Effort Behind the Win
Lengel credited her program, team, and the Schulman family for making the moment possible. “It takes so many people working together to develop a great futurity horse,” Lengel said. “Krista and Paul have trusted the process from the start, and everyone who helps us at home plays a part in nights like these.”
A Promising Start to a Bright Career
With her first major futurity performance now in the books, ThisChicHasBigDreams has established herself as one of the most exciting mares of her class — talented, willing, and undeniably competitive.
Her 224 sets the tone for an incredibly promising future, both as a show mare and eventually as a cornerstone broodmare in the reining industry.
