Owned by Krista and Paul Schulman at Diamond Creek Ranch, they soon found out Charlotte’s not like most mares. She doesn’t need a fancy pre-show regime or the right mood to perform. She just shows up, ready to work—no drama, no frills, just grit.

#BossMare

Her first big test came at the 2020 Open Futurity Level 4 Co-Championship with trainer Abby Lengel. Despite showing some nerves before the run, Charlotte didn’t disappoint. Once she stepped into the arena, she fired, delivering a stunning 224 and tying for the Level 4 Championship. It was clear she was born to be a show horse, and...

NOTHING WOULD STOP HER

from Achieving her Dreams

Just when Charlotte was hitting her stride, an injury—a chip in her front knee—threatened to end her career. But Charlotte’s heart was set on working, and she wasn’t about to give up. Even after surgery, she was happiest on days when she could get back under saddle. With the support of her team, including new trainer Craig Schmersal, and the Schulmans’ unwavering belief in her, Charlotte’s comeback was only a matter of time.

A Debut like No Other...

After months of careful rehab, Craig and everyone at Diamond Creek Ranch knew Charlotte was ready for a big comeback. So ready, they decided to set their debut at the 2024 Open Shootout. The pressure was on, but Charlotte showed everyone what she was made of. Despite her injury, she pulled out all the stops, scoring a 218 and pushing her LTE over $41k. She proved that, no matter the odds, she was born to win.

Magnum Chic Dream, born in 1996, was bred by Guy A Du Ponchel. The colt was purchased as a two-year-old in training with Patti Brownshadel by Viola Scott, who was looking for a new non pro horse to compete on.

Patti Brownshadel piloted him to the NRHA Futurity Open Level 2 and Level 3 Reserve Championships. The pair also placed in the Level 4 Finals. The next year the duo was the NRHA Derby Level 3 Co-Reserve Champions.

In 2002, Viola Scott finally took the reins of her stallion, racking up wins in Non Pro classes over the next couple years.

The stallion’s final recorded win was a big one when Casey Hinton showed him at the 2004 American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show to win the Senior Reining title.

Magnum Chic Dream’s first performing foal crop arrived in 2001, and as the stallion’s offspring excelled in the show pen, his popularity grew. He has now sired numerous champions of the NRHA Futurity, Derby, and NRBC.

The Legacy Continues

Proving Her Power, Passing It On.

Charlotte’s next chapter is being written through her foals. With several already on the ground and more planned through embryo transfer, her influence is just beginning.

Each new generation carries forward her balanced movement, correct build, and that same “ready-to-work” attitude that defines her.

Her legacy — much like her name — is proof that big dreams built on hard work always win.

ThisChicHasBigDreams is seen standing from the front at a slight angle looking to the right. It is golden hour and the sun is warm and bright against her chestnut coat. Her striking white black stands out, as well as a glint off of the silver of her western show bridle. She isn't wearing a saddle, but the split reins. are draped over her back. There is high bokeh of the setting sun in the background,
